NEW YORK – September 14, 2023 – swXtch.io, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IEX Group, Inc., returns to IBC with strong momentum behind its vision for helping media and entertainment companies migrate high-volume media workflows to the cloud. One year after introducing its cloudSwXtch virtual overlay network to the industry at IBC2022, swXtch.io has added several key enhancements to cloudSwXtch that improve performance and support new applications.
These enhancements include:
More choice - swXtch.io has established relationships with all major public cloud network providers, making it immediately deployable on AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Marketplaces.
Higher performance and reliability - swXtch.io has added Lossless UDP for additional protection of media streams across dynamic bridging (ground-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground) and multi-cloud networking applications. Lossless UDP optimizes packet delivery for high-bandwidth streams with minimal latency for dynamic ground-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground bridging, and without reliance on proprietary protocols or hardware components.
More functionality – swXtch.io will also demonstrate its deployment of Tachyon LIVE and Tachyon Transcode for the first time, powered by Cinnafilm’s award-winning Tachyon technology. Tachyon LIVE brings broadcast-quality standards conversion to the cloud, including frame rate conversions, deinterlacing, scaling, and motion compensation for IP-based live video streams to cloudSwXtch users. Running as a feature on cloudSwXtch allows Tachyon LIVE immediate access to media packets, increasing the performance of the network.
Introduced in late 2022 and new to IBC audiences, swXtch.io will demonstrate its deployment of Timebeat’s Precision Time Protocol (PTP) into cloudSwXtch. Used extensively in on-prem systems today, Timebeat’s PTP Squared technology allows systems that rely on multicast to achieve the high level of synchronization required to move to the cloud. This ensures that data is received and processed in the correct order during migration to the cloud, aligning synchronization capabilities in the cloud with on-premises networks.
At IBC2023, swXtch.io will demonstrate the new cloudSwXtch features and applications that are essential for multi-cloud environments at the EVS stand (10.A25).
Geeter Kyrazis from swXtch.io will also speak to the IBC audience in an IBC2023 Partner Sessions panel sponsored by SMPTE, called Architecting Multi-Cloud and On-Prem Workflows Solutions for Global Production Needs, which will focus on enabling workflows in multi-cloud environments. Kyrazis will speak to how optimizing inter-cloud network communication and normalizing cloud network behaviors is critical to bringing on-premises systems and cloud networks together while also transcending the individual capabilities of each cloud provider. On the stage with Kyrazis will be the three major public cloud providers – Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. The session takes place Sunday, September 17 from 10-10:45am in Room E102.
“It’s critical to implement a common data plane across on-prem broadcast networks, on-prem distribution networks and cloud networks to inherently make a multi-cloud strategy work,” said Brent Yates, CEO of swXtch.io. “As we head to IBC, we are excited to discuss and demonstrate how key new features like Lossless UDP and PTP synchronization, combined with existing cloudSwXtch features such as multicast distribution and hitless merge, will help our customers efficiently migrate high-bandwidth workflows to the cloud using the same processes as their on-premises systems, and enable homogeneity among the cloud networks that account for their different functions and features.”
IBC2023 begins Friday and runs through Monday, September 18.
