What cloud networks does cloudSwXtch support?
CloudSwXtch is available on the AWS marketplace, Azure marketplace and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure marketplace today. It is also available for deployment in the Google Cloud.
How do I set up my cloudSwXtch?
cloudSwXtch is very easy to deploy from the Azure, AWS and Oracle Marketplaces, and deployable on Google Cloud. After setting a few simple parameters, a user creates the virtual network which deploys a cloudSwXtch into their Azure, AWS, Oracle or Google Cloud tenant. Any virtual machines that wish to connect to the cloudSwXtch must retrieve an xNIC from the cloudSwXtch by running a simple bash script.
Can I send multicast traffic into my AWS network with swXtch?
Yes. cloudSwXtch enables AWS multicast applications. You can find more information on AWS multicast and cloudSwXtch here.
Can I send multicast traffic from my on-prem systems into Azure, AWS, Google or Oracle Clouds?
Yes. The cloudSwXtch architecture includes a lightweight VM component that allows external networks to create AWS multicast, Azure multicast, Google cloud multicast or Oracle multicast and move traffic between data centers.
Can I send multicast traffic across Azure vNets?
cloudSwXtch supports moving multicast traffic between Azure vNets, within or between Availability Zones.
Which version of IGMP does cloudSwXtch support?
cloudSwXtch is fully compliant with IGMP Version 2, and partially compliant with IGMP Version 3. cloudSwXtch currently supports many of the features of IGMP Version 3 that are in common use, and will fully support IGMP version 3 in a future release.
Which operating systems do the xNICs run on?
xNICs are available for virtual machines that run RHEL 7 or later, CentOS 7 or later, Ubuntu 18.04 or later, Windows Server 2016 and 2019. These operating systems must run on an x86_64 CPU.
What features are available today on a cloudSwXtch?
The first release of cloudSwXtch allows users to transmit multicast traffic on or into the cloud. The multicast network behaves as if it were implemented on physical hardware. It uses standard IGMP-compliant methods to allow multicast producers and consumers to leave or join multicast groups.
What is a cloudSwXtch?
cloudSwXtch is a virtual overlay network that runs in your AWS or Azure tenant. It creates a standards-compliant network by deploying virtual network switches and virtual Network Interface Controllers (xNICs) that allow software workloads running on virtual machines to distribute their information as if they were running on a physical network. Many features not available on cloud networks, like multicast, PTP, packet pacing, custom packet filtering, and others may be implemented as features on this virtual network.
