NEW YORK – September 12, 2024 – swXtch.io, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IEX Group, Inc., will accentuate how broadcasters can reap the benefits of greater adaptability, reliability and agility for live production in the cloud with its cloudSwXtch high-performance network. swXtch.io will debut the latest features and capabilities available to international audiences at IBC2024, where the company will exhibit in Hall 4 (Meeting Space 4.A12).

Adaptability (Live Production in the Cloud) – cloudSwXtch can now send both compressed JPEG-XS (TR 07 and TR 08) and uncompressed ST-2110 workflows into and through the cloud from on-prem systems, making high-value live sports production in the cloud a reality. As these events are produced, or “mastered”, from the highest quality materials possible, supporting these standards will preserve the integrity of the media moving through the cloud, ensuring the best quality and lowest latency possible for consumers.

Reliability (Content Delivery and Playout) – swXtch.io will demonstrate how lossless UDP provides additional protection for media streams across dynamic bridging (ground-to-cloud) and multi-cloud networking applications. swXtch.io representatives will discuss how lossless UDP optimizes packet delivery for high-bandwidth streams with minimal latency, and share results from an AWS interop event in July where cloudSwXtch bridged more than 800 million packets from ground to cloud with no drops.

Agility (Media Monitoring & Transport) – IBC marks the global debut of new enhancements to swXtch.io’s wXcked Eye monitoring UI that provides visibility down to the packet level for enhanced monitoring and Quality of Service (QoS), making it easy to identify packet drops and audit overall cloudSwXtch network performance. Additionally, swXtch.io has implemented Network Media Open Specifications (NMOS) workflows in cloudSwXtch networks, streamlining the management of media workflows in the cloud and ensuring they align with on-prem systems.

swXtch.io will also take part in demos with members of its Partner Program on various booths, including a media channel realization demo on the Cinegy booth (7.A01) that migrates master control operations to the cloud. cloudSwXtch converts live unicast streams from Cinegy’s Air PRO playout and broadcast automation service into multicast streams for dynamic bandwidth utilization, allowing media businesses to easily move 4K and 8K flows from Cinegy’s Daniel2 codec into and through the cloud. The workflow also gives production personnel the flexibility to dynamically insert graphics and branding elements into live video feeds as they move through the cloudSwXtch network.

swXtch.io will also contribute to a proof-of-concept demo with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure that will leverage NVIDIA’s Holoscan sensor processing platform to enable ST-2110 workflows on the cloud. On the NVIDIA stand (7.A45), NVIDIA’s on-prem technology will ingest live 8K camera feeds and send them into a containerized cloudSwXtch Bridge for migration to the cloud. The cloudSwXtch application, which further simplifies deployment across multiple operating systems and clouds in containerized form, will include Cinnafilm’s Tachyon LIVE feature for cloudSwXtch to manage broadcast-quality standard conversions in real time.

“When cloudSwXtch debuted at IBC2022, the enthusiasm for managing live production workflows in the cloud was guarded given the clear lack of parallels between how on-prem and cloud networks were structured,” said Brent Yates, CEO, swXtch.io. “Over the past two years, swXtch.io has made JPEG-XS, Precision Time Protocol (PTP), multicast, network path redundancy and other previously missing features available in all major public clouds. This year, we are excited to share how cloudSwXtch increasingly aligns on-prem and cloud infrastructure to help broadcasters create one big network that is deployable, monitorable, and functional across clouds, and accelerate the industry’s adoption of ST 2110 IP workflows.”

cloudSwXtch is available on all major public cloud network providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Marketplaces.)

IBC takes place September 13-16, 2024 at the RAI Amsterdam.
